On 15th and 16th June 2015, 17 UIRL staffs had an official visit to Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) and Ultra Scientific Sdn. Bhd. The main purpose of the visit is to learn and acquire more information and knowledge regarding laboratories management and safety.
First day spent well at FRIM. A mini seminar was held which entitled “Towards MS ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation For Chemical/Biology Laboratory” given by Dr. Sharmiza Adnan. The seminar covered many topics starting from the beginning of the accreditation process, important references, management requirements and also technical requirements.

On the second day, all participants received a very warm welcome from Ultra Scientific officers. Here we had a discussion focusing on Chemicals Storing System (fume cupboard, air control, LEV, inspection, maintenance, etc), latest technology regarding lab storage and safety, and also the information on how Ultra Scientific can help us in improving lab management and safety. Other than that, we were lucky to have the opportunity meeting with qualified Hygiene Tech II from NIOSH.

Of course there are a lot improvement that can be apply in UIRL lab. It was a very great & informative sharing session from both parties. Kudos to all.
