The implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM Johor Bahru Campus from 21 May until 3 June 2021 has prompted the concern of the Faculty of Science to jointly contribute.
In line with that, the Faculty had prepared and provided hand sanitizers for the use of nearly 2,300 students on campus. The contribution was also given to the frontliners who served during EMCO in UTM.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. ChM. Dr. Abdull Rahim Hj. Mohd Yusoff, this initiative stemmed from the contribution of the faculty members to the Endowment Fund, in order to show their concern for the current situation. He also expressed his appreciation and thanks to all parties who have helped in the success of the production of these hand sanitizers.
The hand sanitizers were handed over to Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Hamdan Ahmad, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) of UTM in a brief meeting that took place on 28th June 2021. Also present was Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Zaiton Abdul Majid, Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation, Development and Alumni), representing the Faculty of Science.
The initiative to produce hand sanitizers serves as a continuation of the Faculty’s efforts that begun since the Movement Control Order (MCO) 1.0, in collaboration with the UTM Endowment Unit. The Faculty of Science will continue to pray for the well-being of everyone in UTM and hopes that all campus residents will continue to persevere.
We would also like to express our sincerest appreciation to the staff of the Faculty of Science, UTM, who have been giving their utmost dedication in realizing this cause.
